Ölfus Cluster works to support the development of the regional economy, with a particular focus on sustainable food production. Its primary area of operation is the Municipality of Ölfus, but its projects extend across the country, especially throughout South Iceland.

Ölfus Cluster provides advisory services in the field of business development, with a focus on environmentally friendly food production. Its area of operation covers all of South Iceland, with a primary focus on Ölfus and neighboring municipalities.

The advisory services include assistance with the establishment and operation of companies within the area of operation, such as support for market entry, product development and innovation, as well as assistance with preparing funding applications for specific projects.

Páll has extensive experience in project management and in bringing together the knowledge and expertise of diverse stakeholders to work on solutions and innovation.

Eva Lind Guðmundsdóttir

Project Manager

Eva Lind has an educational background in biotechnology and fisheries science. She has broad experience in aquaculture and has been involved in quality management, research, and innovation projects.

Our Board

The Board is elected at ÖC’s annual general meeting and is drawn from the founding members or appointed through nominations by the founding members.

Ölfus Cluster is supported by a select group of individuals with extensive experience from the business sector, public administration, and research and academia.

The group shares a common vision within Ölfus Cluster: to strengthen and support the regional economy, guided by the principles of the green and blue economy.

Elliði Vignisson

Mayor of Ölfus

Elliði is Chairman of the Board of Ölfus Cluster, holds a degree in Psychology, and brings decades of experience in local government, strategic planning, and community development. As Mayor of Ölfus, he has led ambitious initiatives to strengthen the municipality’s business environment and infrastructure. Through his involvement with Ölfus Cluster, he promotes strong collaboration between businesses and the community, sustainable development, and the continued growth of Ölfus as a thriving hub for industry and innovation.

Grétar Ingi Erlendsson

Project Manager in Tourism

Grétar works as a Tourism Project Manager and also serves as Chairman of the Ölfus Municipal Council. He brings extensive experience in marketing, customer service, and tourism development, along with valuable insight into the municipality’s growth and the needs of the local business community. Through his involvement with Ölfus Cluster, Grétar focuses on strengthening the tourism sector, increasing the visibility of the region, and fostering collaboration that supports a more diverse and resilient local economy in Ölfus.

Haukur Þór Haraldsson

Business Development Manager at Verkís

Haukur Þór studied Biology and Business Administration and currently serves as Business Development Manager at Verkís. He brings extensive experience in project development, strategic planning, and building partnerships between businesses, institutions, and community stakeholders. Through his involvement with Ölfus Cluster, Haukur is committed to fostering innovation, supporting sustainable economic development, and creating opportunities for growth and value creation within the municipality.

Helga Kristín Jóhannsdóttir

Business Development Manager at ON Power.

Helga has worked both in the field of public policy development and within innovative energy companies, playing an active role in shaping a vision for the sustainable use of natural resources. Through her involvement with Ölfus Cluster, she places a strong emphasis on innovation, carbon neutrality, and responsible resource management for the benefit of society.

Svava Rán Karlsdóttir

Human Resources Manager at IWH.

Svava Rán serves as Human Resources Manager at Icelandic Glacial in Ölfus. Throughout a career spanning more than 25 years, she has held a variety of roles, with education, training, and human resources consistently at the core of her work, both in Iceland and the United Kingdom. This extensive international experience will be a valuable asset in the continued development of Ölfus Cluster.

Ingimar Rafn Ágústsson

Production Manager at VAXA Technologies.

Ingimar Rafn is the Production Manager at VAXA Technologies in Þorlákshöfn. He is a certified Master Mechanic and has been with the company since 2019. In 2022, he led the development and establishment of VAXA’s processing operations in Þorlákshöfn and has since played a key role in the ongoing development and day-to-day management of production, with a strong focus on professionalism, quality, and effective teamwork. Through his involvement with Ölfus Cluster, he is committed to fostering innovation, creating value, and supporting the continued growth of business and industry in Ölfus.

Gulla Aradóttir

Founder and CEO of Ice Fish, and Managing Director of Lýsi in Þorlákshöfn.

Gulla brings extensive experience in fisheries, manufacturing, operations, and business development, with a particular focus on creating value from marine resources. She is the Founder and CEO of Ice Fish and also serves as Managing Director of Lýsi in Þorlákshöfn. Gulla holds a B.Sc. degree in Sport Science and Physical Education and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Reykjavík University. Through her experience and expertise, she provides Ölfus Cluster with a strong connection to local industry, business operations, and the sustainable utilization of marine resources.
